Citadelle Reserve is billed as the world's first solera-aged gin, made by Maison Ferrand under master distiller Alexandre Gabriel in Cognac, France. The juniper-forward base gin is rested in a solera of mixed casks (including ex-cognac, ex-Pineau des Charentes and various woods), giving a pale-gold colour and a rounder, spice-and-oak-layered character. A complex, sipping-style gin.

Tasting notes

Pale gold; aromas of pine, juniper, citrus/orange zest, honey and oak; palate of vanilla, caramel, green grape and stone fruit; elegant finish with coriander, ginger and cardamom over a touch of oak.

How to use

Best showcased neat, over ice or in spirit-forward cocktails such as a Negroni, Martinez or barrel-aged gin Old Fashioned where the oak and spice can shine.
